Forgot how much I love playing music.
Well, not forgot…I just tried to keep it out of my mind while I was away, so that I couldn’t miss it too much and go crazy. But now that my guitar and bass are close at hand, we’re getting all cozy and reacquainted. Time for cutting my nails, dusting of the axes, and letting my fingers feel the sounds vibrating off the cool strings.

It's the little things in life:
Buying a firefighter backpack to use as my luggage for my flight on Sunday Meeting Tim, the owner of Eugene Jeans (who looked like a retired Hippie Santa Claus) and talking about his travels across the country Getting asked by Tim’s friend if I could give him and his bass a ride to L.A. (sketch…. but still, it was such a Eugene thing to ask) Discovering a record shop with this...

Struggling to contain my excitement...
MY UNCLE IS COMING!!! He and his girlfriend (this is a recent development as of this summer, and I approve of her completely) are flying up on Friday to come with me to the UO vs. USC game this Saturday. The stakes are high as my uncle and I have a bet going on. Loser has to wear the gear of the opposing team at Thanksgiving dinner, etc. I really really can’t wait to see him. I feel like a...

This book, the essay that’s due tomorrow for it, the two essays due Thursday, my Anthro exam on Thursday, and my research project on Darfur are all making me lose a few marbles. Just a few. Argen blargen schmargen. Done whining. Gettin’ shizz done.

"It seems strange that my life should end in such...
But for three years I had roses and apologized to no one. I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must NEVER let them take it from us. I hope that whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope that the worlds turns, and that things...

Gonna be okay,
Do doo doo, just dance :) A song from the beginning of high school, that always reminds me of soccer games and fun bus rides. It’ll all be okay, even if eventually. Keep on chuggin’.

Dear Left Quadricep,
Come on now. Really? It’s been three years since you initially screwed me over. I really do not enjoy pain every time I walk, falling down stairs when you give out, and I am especially upset that you started being a beezy right before Ultimate tryouts. I’ll never forget when the physical therapist said, “To be honest, you’ll have this problem the rest of your life.”  ...

It’s super helpful for my International Issues class, and my Geography of the Middle East and North Africa class. I’m only posting about this because I think it’s important to know what’s happening in the world, and I highly recommend taking even just 10 minutes out of your day to sit down and read the International section, or any section that interests you. I find it...

"Freedom is acknowledging the mask you have on
And possessing the strength to take it off Freedom is accepting every step of the path And when it’s hard having faith in the ability to embrace that That’s where you are And this is it The same shit that we work towards, but go against in the same sense My friend hit me to some game and truth unravelled, she said “the brighter the light, the darker the shadow” And since...

Well, at least according to the Strokes. Today was my first Ultimate practice, and I have to say…..it was freaking amazing.  The adrenaline rush was incredible. I know what you’re thinking - “How could Ultimate Frisbee be intense?”. I know I used to think the same thing. But these girls are the STUFF. National Champs, hardcore, but all around just good people. I can...

"Thousands of people die every day.
Were we to consider why each of them died, and how - what would happen to us, the living? The world goes on whether we choose for it to do so or in defiance of us. And I, like millions of mankind, walk and move, generally by force of habit, in a long caravan that ascends and descends, encamps, and then proceeds on its way. Life in this caravan is not all together bad. You no doubt are aware of...

"This son of a bitch has knee dimples."
Yup, watching How I Met Your Mother before class :)  Woke up this morning, put on a soccer tee and some shorts, and was about to hit the road for a run. But one small problem - I’m in Oregon now. RAIN. I suited up and headed for the gym, got my sweat on, hit the showers, and now HIMYM-ing it up before Geography of the Middle East and North Africa. So pumped for class. You don’t even...

But regardless, it’s been a great day so far :) I’m all done with classes, and super excited to start studying. My professors are awesome, and one is a complete g (even though he gave me a hard time for eating with my left hand). He’s gotten me super interested in the Middle East, and I would definitely like to visit someday. Hmm….maybe study abroad? I know I know,...
