Which is what I’ve been doing the last couple of months. This will be my last Tumblr post of the 2011 year, and of ever. I should have done this long ago, as I should have done many things long ago, but one thing I have learned is that it’s never too late. Take risks. Be brave. Have courage. Give. Know who you are, and what you stand for - even if sometimes the vision may be a little blurry.
Best of luck to all of my followers, and take care. May the force be with you, always.
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) - U2
Well, not forgot…I just tried to keep it out of my mind while I was away, so that I couldn’t miss it too much and go crazy. But now that my guitar and bass are close at hand, we’re getting all cozy and reacquainted. Time for cutting my nails, dusting of the axes, and letting my fingers feel the sounds vibrating off the cool strings.
- Buying a firefighter backpack to use as my luggage for my flight on Sunday
- Meeting Tim, the owner of Eugene Jeans (who looked like a retired Hippie Santa Claus) and talking about his travels across the country
- Getting asked by Tim’s friend if I could give him and his bass a ride to L.A. (sketch…. but still, it was such a Eugene thing to ask)
- Discovering a record shop with this really cool looking girl as the cashier
- Passing by High Priestess Piercing and Tattoo, and deciding on a whim to get my cartilage pierced
- Having a long conversation with Alex, the guy who pierced me
- Alex being impressed that I came alone, and then offering to pierce me any time since I didn’t feel any pain haha
- Walking back in my firefighter backpack
- Returning to the dorms, and B-lang asking “Girl, where the FUCK have you been?”
- Once again sharing my adventure stories with my floor-mates, and seeing their amused expressions.
- Payne shaking his head, and saying “Christine, this is why you are one of my favorite people”.
- Later tonight: Going to take the Frisbee girls out to dinner, then movie night with whoever is left back at the dorms.
- Later later tonight: Snuggling up with my blanket and a super captivating book (Ishmael) and packing
That’s the plan - all day e’ry day, a new adventure. Today I will be getting lost in the city of Eugene. No maps, no direction, no cares in the world, just me and my camera.
It’s the little things in life.
See this jar of salsa? Well, it’s not just an ordinary glass tub of deliciousness - it’s the reminder I needed to spice up the rest of my life. You see, I’ve had a shitty few couple of days. Details aren’t important, but now that I can finally eat again, I made the voyage down to Safeway where I discovered a wall of salsa. I almost walked past it, but the picante in my meatball just couldn’t keep me away. It was then, while I was staring at the glass viles of yumminess, that I decided I needed a change. I needed - risk.
So, I chose a salsa. And every now and again, I will step out of my comfort zone, purchase a new quirky looking salsa, and hope for the best. My quest? To search for the best salsa out there. The one that my tastebuds can trust - trust that it will challenge my tastebuds to be stronger, to be better, to enjoy every second of each bite in this short life. The one salsa that my tastebuds will love.
It is also very possible that my salsa quest is metaphorical. For many things. Either way, the adventure begins once again. Seize the day. Spice up the day.
